Chill Out Zone

2023 - present

Each year in August, the Chill Out Zone is created as a safe and welcoming space for anyone who needs somewhere to decompress, relax, escape the sensory pressures of such a bustling and noisy environment as the Show, have a meltdown, or simply take some time out — whatever their needs may be.

Visual Communication Board

2022

In 2022, the Whyalla Disability Inclusive Reference Group celebrated the installation of Whyalla’s first Visual Communication Board at Wilson Park.

This was an important step towards creating a more inclusive and accessible community for everyone.

Visual Communication Boards provide people with another way to communicate using pictures and symbols. They can be used by anyone — whether they are non-speaking, have difficulty communicating verbally, are learning to communicate, or simply find visual communication easier.

It’s about making sure everyone has a voice, everyone can express themselves, and everyone feels included in their community.

Small changes can make a big difference in creating a Whyalla where everyone belongs.
