The Whyalla Disability Inclusive Reference Group is a community consultancy group dedicated to promoting access and inclusion for people living with disability across Whyalla.
Established in 2021 with the support of Mission Australia and later in partnership with Whyalla City Council, the group works closely with stakeholders, businesses and services to improve universal access, strengthen community engagement, and help build a more inclusive city for everyone.
Our members bring diverse perspectives, including people with lived experience of disability, parents and carers, and passionate community advocates who are committed to amplifying the voices and needs of Whyalla’s disability community.
Since its formation, the group has contributed to a range of initiatives, including providing “Quiet Spaces” at major local events such as the Whyalla Show, and hosting activities to recognise the International Day of People with Disability, helping to increase awareness, participation, and inclusion across our community.
Together, we continue to foster connections, raise awareness of disability rights, and support projects that enhance social and civic participation for people with disability in Whyalla.
