December 2021
One of the many events the Whyalla Disability Inclusive Reference Group, alongside Mission Australia and with the support of Whyalla City Council, helped organise was an International Day of People with Disabilities celebration on 3rd December at Ada Ryan Gardens.
It was a wonderful day filled with community, connection and plenty of fun, including:
• Amazing live music
• Free food and drinks — including donuts!
• Animal play and a dedicated dog space
• Inspirational speeches
• Sensory chill-out zones
• A special visit from the Care Bears
• Tai Chi demonstrations
It was a day that brought people together, celebrated diversity and created opportunities for everyone to feel included and connected within our community.
While the Whyalla Disability Inclusive Reference Group has since moved away from organising events like these, it’s wonderful to look back and reminisce about what we achieved together — and to see just how far our community has come.
These memories are a reminder that inclusion is built through community, connection and people coming together.
